EKKE, MARTA SMILGA, FIGŪRAS31/05/2016 (19:00 CEST)
Marta SmiLga is the project of Līga Smirnova, Riga based musician who lives for electronic music. Using her collection of modular synths and electronic instruments she generates deep and immersive cosmic soundscapes that drag you into their gravitational field, like matter to a black hole. On the 31st of May Marta SmiLga will play a live set celebrating the outcoming of her debut release on Liminal Noise label - the split cassette together with Jelena Glazova.
Ekke Västrik is a composer, sound designer and improviser primarily playing a modular synthesizer though occasionally using field recordings and custom sound objects. He has studied electroacoustic composition in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and sound design for movies in Baltic Film and Television School. The album ''Chasm'' - ekke's debut was released on Detroit Underground in 2015, and it is said to be ''full of glitchy insect like micro beats, bass drum, dark drones and nostalgic analogue synth sounds.''
Figūras is an experimental music project by creator and first artist-run gallery founder in Latvia - Kaspars Groševs. As his ouvre is diverse, music and sound is only one facet of it all. The project Figūras exists since 2006, and as the artist himself describes: it's experimenting with loops and textures that saturate the creation process. Figures never repeat yet in live improvisation they always return to the long forgotten. There's no beginning or end, only the excitement of a moment.
